Thank you for stopping by! I'm Ashley, a fine art wedding photographer.  After one amazing year of living in Charlottesville, Virginia, my husband and I have chosen to move back to our hometown of Bourbonnais, IL. We find ourselves always traveling because we love to explore and experience as much as we can.

A wedding day begins an adventure of a lifetime, and signifies the joining of lives between two people and their families. My greatest joy is capturing moments that are beautiful and authentic, so that you and your loved ones may share and enjoy these memories forever.

My interest in photography first sparked while I was taking film photography and painting in college. I began photographing artists, bands, and local events simply because it was something I loved to do. My passion quickly turned into something more when a friend asked me to photograph her wedding. Since then, I've seen just how truly significant photography has been in my life.

I'd love to hear all about your story, and what you envision for your wedding day. If you are engaged or have a special event coming up, simply send me a message and lets chat. I would be happy to hear from you!

My husband, Jimmy, and I both love photography and being surrounded by nature. We took our first trip together to Tennessee and found ourselves getting engaged there a year later! We've been obsessed with mountains and traveling ever since. Below are some of our adventures, including a recent trip to North Cascades National Park for our engagement photos with the amazing photographer, Jordan Voth. Our wedding was August 5, 2017!

What equipment do you bring to a wedding?
My main equipment includes: Canon 6D, 24-70mm 2.8,  70-200mm 2.8 IS II, 35mm, 50mm, 28-70mm. Two Canon 600EX-RT Flashes. I also always carry back up camera body and 2-3 additional lenses just incase of emergencies.

How many photos do I receive?
A lot! Typically for an 8 hour wedding, expect around 800-1,000 edited images. For the engagement session, 50-60.

Where can I view my wedding images?
Your images are hosted in an online gallery to share with friends and family.  You will also receive the fully edited images on your USB drive.

How long until we can see our photos?
You can expect to receive your online gallery and USB within 2-3 weeks. If you have an album in your collection, it will take some extra time for the design and revisions before it is mailed to you. The busy wedding months (May-Aug) are also subject to slightly longer delivery times.

Can I post them on Facebook and social media?
Of course you can! Share away! Photo credit or a Facebook tag is always highly appreciated!

What kind of deposit do you require and when is final payment due?
There is a 40% down payment to reserve your date, then the rest of the payments may be made at your convenience. Final payment must be completed 14 days prior to the wedding day.

Where are you located?
I am located in Charlottesville, VA, but very open to traveling!

Are you available for destination weddings?  Do you charge a travel fee?
Of course! I love to travel, especially for weddings!  I can travel both stateside and internationally with passport ready to go.  As for a travel fee, I do not charge for local weddings within a 50 miles of Charlottesville, VA.  If I need to fly, I charge for the cost of a plane ticket and 2 nights hotel stay.

Do you have Insurance?
Yes, proof of insurance can be presented at any time.

How far in advance do you book?
On average, I will book 9-12 months out.

Can I upgrade my package after I book?
Definitely, it’s important to get the date reserved first and foremost, after that engagement sessions, albums, additional album spreads and extra hours can all be added to your collection.

I love everything about Ashley Susan Photography! What is the next step?
Once you've inquired about your date and decided on the perfect collection, I will send over the photography agreement and deposit request. Once that's complete, your date will officially be reserved! From there, it's time to get excited about your engagement session!
