Thank you for stopping by! I'm Ashley, a fine art photographer specializing in wedding and engagement photography.  After one amazing year of living in Charlottesville, Virginia, my husband and I have chosen to move back and settle into our hometown of Bourbonnais, IL. We find ourselves always traveling because we love to explore and experience as much as we can. We are even more thrilled when we can travel for a wedding!

I am so thankful for the amazing couples that I have the opportunity to meet. A wedding day begins an adventure of a lifetime, and signifies the joining of lives between two people and their families. My greatest joy is capturing moments that are beautiful and authentic, so that you and your loved ones may share and enjoy these memories forever.

I first began my business photographing bands, artists, and events simply because it was something I loved to do. As I continued to learn, I realized how much passion I have for what I do, and the significance that photography has in my life. Not to mention, I met my husband, the love of my life, all thanks to photography! We spent a little over a year secretly admiring each other online before ever meeting in person. I loved seeing beautiful photographs he would take of sunsets and landscapes. Meanwhile, he was admiring me for my art and joy of working with people. The time to meet finally came when we casually agreed to photograph a special "honeymoon" that wouldn't happen for another 100 years. The rest you can say, is history, and we've spent every day together since.

I'd love to hear all about your story, and what you envision for your wedding day. If you are engaged or have a special event coming up, simply send me a message and lets chat. I would be happy to hear from you!

My husband, Jimmy, and I both love photography and being surrounded by nature. We took our first trip together to Tennessee and found ourselves getting engaged there a year later! We've been obsessed with mountains and traveling ever since. Below are some of our adventures, including a recent trip to North Cascades National Park for our engagement photos with the amazing photographer, Jordan Voth. We got married on August 5, 2017!

What equipment do you bring to a wedding?
My main equipment includes: Canon 6D, 24-70mm 2.8,  70-200mm 2.8 IS II, 35mm, 50mm, 28-70mm. Two Canon 600EX-RT Flashes. I also always carry back up camera body and 2-3 additional lenses just incase of emergencies.

How many photos do I receive?
A lot! Typically for an 8 hour wedding, expect around 800-1,000 edited images. For the engagement session, 50-60.

Where can I view my wedding images?
Your images are hosted in an online gallery to share with friends and family.  You will also receive the fully edited images on your USB drive.

How long until we can see our photos?
You can expect to receive your online gallery and USB within 2-3 weeks. If you have an album in your collection, it will take some extra time for the design and revisions before it is mailed to you. The busy wedding months (May-Aug) are also subject to slightly longer delivery times.

Can I post them on Facebook and social media?
Of course you can! Share away! Photo credit or a Facebook tag is always highly appreciated!

What kind of deposit do you require and when is final payment due?
There is a 40% down payment to reserve your date, then the rest of the payments may be made at your convenience. Final payment must be completed 14 days prior to the wedding day.

Where are you located?
I am located in Charlottesville, VA, but very open to traveling!

Are you available for destination weddings?  Do you charge a travel fee?
Of course! I love to travel, especially for weddings!  I can travel both stateside and internationally with passport ready to go.  As for a travel fee, I do not charge for local weddings within a 50 miles of Charlottesville, VA.  If I need to fly, I charge for the cost of a plane ticket and 2 nights hotel stay.

Do you have Insurance?
Yes, proof of insurance can be presented at any time.

How far in advance do you book?
On average, I will book 9-12 months out.

Can I upgrade my package after I book?
Definitely, it’s important to get the date reserved first and foremost, after that engagement sessions, albums, additional album spreads and extra hours can all be added to your collection.

I love everything about Ashley Susan Photography! What is the next step?
Once you've inquired about your date and decided on the perfect collection, I will send over the photography agreement and deposit request. Once that's complete, your date will officially be reserved! From there, it's time to get excited about your engagement session!
